I would enjoy having the Martin with the ejection seat it might come in handy.

It was cheaper for Italians to design the cars. They never needed a large expensive in-house design team & could change design studios at will for very different results - getting an in-house team to quickly change its angle is near impossible. They would give outline requirements and hand it over to the Italians
In the 1950s, BMC merged Austin and Morris. To avoid conflict in the two design team they shipped it all to Italy. Triumph also used the Italians. Jaguar never.

@keesboer the one in the vid got stolen?
-
@keesboer: What you were seeing is not what was from filming Goldfinger. That was a dummy fired by compressed air out of the roof. The Superleggera bodywork is made of small section square steel tubes welded together with a large area in the center of the roof of only 2mm (.080") aluminum. That was where the factory added "Webasto Sun Roof" were often fitted as well as the ejector seat roof panel,m which was welded up in '68 or '69 at the AM factory and the car sold as a stock used, DB5.

@paullubliner If you looked in the back of this car, you would still see the marks where they ejected the ejection seat. I got to know this car very well, because I waxed the car.

There were 2 cars used in the making of Goldfinger and Thunderball. This is the main one that was used in Goldfinger. I waxed that car one time. The other one is still around. Then there were two cars that were used for promotional purposes. Those are still around too. But yes, this car was stolen later on.

DB4 Series 5 based prototype for DB5.
I heard that the stolen car was the original db5 prototype, and was the one actually driven in the film. I also heard that this wasn't the one with the ejector seat hole in the roof. Apparently it was then given back to Aston Martin who resold it after removing the gadgets. If this is true, how come the car in this vid has the hole in the roof and all the gadgets.

1968 the gadgets were removed by A/M and the DB5 resold. In 1971 the new owner reinstalled the gadgets and later sold it.
