As Screenshop ends, it hands back over to UK Gold and we see what they have on for today. This look was replaced just over a week later with the new UKTV look.

Apologies about the VHS quality..

  • Can anyone remember when Rentaghost got dropped from the channel and was this repeat run the last ever time it was shown on British TV

  • @Meanmanmartin2007 I think it had at least one more run after UK Gold got rebranded, other than that it may have been shown on Dick and Dom in da bungalow, when it was CBBC Channel only, but other than that, it's never been shown.

  • @steviegTVreturns Thanks for your response. Interesting to hear it got shown on the CBBC Channel. I'm sure I read somewhere that the original master tapes of Rentaghost got erased by the BBC and only the UK Gold copies still exist.

I've never really been too sure about how the UK Gold rebrand affected the programmes shown. Would this have been the point where the endless reruns of OFAH and Fawlty Towers began?

  • @Meanmanmartin2007 I think Fawlty Towers appeared in 1998, but it was in October when OFAH appeared on UK Gold, albeit they started from the beginning. It was from about 98/99 when all of the old old programming disappeared, especially most of the Thames ones, some of which like George and Mildred ended up on Granada Plus by 2000 or so.

  • I can't even remember half the stuff u put up, those were the days. Thanks for uploading

  • what episode of the bill was that ?

  • @steviegTVreturns Thanks for explaining. I thought the older thames programming got removed from the point of the rebrand. At least they had the sense to keep Neighbours and The Bill on the schedule.

UK Gold must have been way better back then. I'm sure that it was much more exciting to see OFAH on the channel back then. In my opinion nowadays its one of those programmes that is just there.

  • When UK Gold was still worth watching.

  • Rentaghost, The Bill, Howards Way, wow what a great day that was, if only i had a time machine!
