John Rains races his 89 Pontiac Trans Am Turbo Coupe in D/BGC at the SCTA World Finals at Bonneville Speedway. This run is the first part of a class record previously held at 265. This run was a stout 284.909 MPH and was done on 22 PSI of boost.

The 274 Cubic Inch V6 which was built by Ken Duttweiler features twin turbos, icewater to air aftercooler and Water Injection. The engine uses racing gasoline and is controlled by a MoTeC M8 Engine Management System and CDI-8 Ignition box which were calibrated by Shane Tecklenburg (Tuned By Shane T)

  • I feel like Pinky from Next Friday "Say somethin' else nukka!" Lmao

  • EVERYBODY,it took this Buick 5 miles to achieve this speed [don't know why the uploader didn't put that in the description!] got all these Buick lover's head's gassed thinking it was the same distance the Supras run at the Texas mile, now give a mile built Supra 5 miles & watch it disappear into the future cause it'll be going so fast,& remember, mile built Supras top out at the mile mark in 5th gear at 245+mph..they still have 6th gear to go!

  • @chuckmekere No,let this car try doing 285mph in 1 MILE not 5 MILES,fucking idiot.

  • @gmpushrodpower This Buick did 285mph...in 5 MILES YOU FUCKING IMBICILE!!!!!!

  • what have the supra fags gotta say for themselves now?

  • 284 MPH!!! Oh yeah, This Video should shut all the Supra guys up. They always say "Boost Logic Supra",

Well I'll say John rains Buick Grand National (I'll use "Buick Grand National" instead of trans Am) to get it in to their thick heads that IT IS a V6 Turbo, it's Domestic, and came before their wannabe car.

  • Nicely done, congratulations!

  • @mattc8821 considering your car may have a street tranny with shorter gears. the gears and final drive were ratio-ed out for top speed. long gears..

  • Its all just so smooth and effortless looking, well done.

  • my 4 cylinder grand national is runnin 950 horses. top speed of 196mph. STREET TUNED with titanium muffler bearings and stainless steel spark plug springs...could prob take the car in this vid in the 1/4 mile
