  • When HandBrake finishes the file is an .m4v but it is not recognised in any way on my Mac (OS X Lion). For example, I cannot open it on Quicktime as you show or anywhere else. The preset is on Normal, and I've read that Lion should open or regonise .m4v files. Any ideas?

  • @MovieMentality follow the steps as I show in the video. When that happens it is usually because the extension of the file was left off.

  • @FinalCutProHelp I have followed the steps exactly and I have kep the file extension. I tried the process and if I stop it before it finishes, it works. If I only select it to encode 1 chapter, it works. But if I set it to do all 42 chapters, or even 41 (probably if I leave it until it says 'Put Down Your Cocktail' it doesn't work. When the file is done is says .m4v, yet it does not work. But if I do the steps I just mentioned, it still says .m4v but it works on quicktime.

  • @MovieMentality It sounds like this DVD does have copy protection on it but just at the end of the file. If you have tried both HandBrake and MPEG Streamclip without success, you'll have to use a physical converter or other application to try and convert the entire video.

  • If you put a normal dvd and drag that slide all the way to the right and the rf says 0 is that okay? Is it still in high quality?

  • @Dramangar That all sounds good rf should be 0. Also try MPEG Streamclip to get the best quality

  • This was great! Clear step by step for a novice like me. Thanks!

  • @FinalCutProHelp thanks x

  • @NerrissCullen in HandBrake there is a specific preset you can use for iPod. Just make sure you can see the preset section on the right side. If you are using this and still having issues, try changing the interlaced setting. Turn it on and off and see if it makes it better.

  • when i did this, the vid that i wanted on my ipod kept stuttering and had audio problems, how do i fix this??
