In discussing your book, Breaking the Spell, you've said that part of what the book does is to "reveal how the magicians do their tricks" when it comes to organized religion. Can you elaborate? - An interview with Daniel Dennett at the Future of Science Conference in Venice, Italy September 2006.

  • ... the reason religion works is because people want to believe it, theyd rather cling to a false knowledge of bliss after death, then accept a world or an idea which would prove that knowledge false, thus they cling to their faith blindly to the exclusion of everything else, by surrounding themselves with other people who are doing the same it becoems a blind leading the blind thing, which is why religions are dangerious as they cling to ideals which are inherently false with abnormal devotion

  • religion fails to fairly evaluate all alternatives - Dennett does - he, as all scientists, gladly embraces new ideas which disprove any or all his currently held beliefs - religion does not embrace continuous reevaluations and replacements of ideas - science is based on a process of critical fact finding supported by joy in being outdone by better theories - scientists are thrilled by discovering new hypothesis which they can support by underlying simple facts

  • It's just funny to see a video entitled "Understanding Genetics..." and not even hear the word "genetics" mentioned once. That's all.

  • And Christianism is and art from a literate point of view, and Basketball is an art to for a Basketball player, and Math is a Sport , and also cooking is a religion from a chef point of view. Not every thing you belive is a REligion, Not every thing you do with passion is an art, not every thing that takes effort is a sport, and not every thing that makes up Invisible unexisting people is Thruth.

  • AIG Creation Museum refuted by fossils below museum pt.2 Paste that in the search engine box to see my new video . Part 1 is on many science news sites and religous forums.

  • It's religion from the perspective of a geneticist.

  • Sorry guys. I just searched "Genetics" and found this which had nothing to do with genetics and was all about reverse engineering religion. I was a bit surprised/outraged. That's all.

  • It was to do with his book by the way.
