Electric Barbarella - duran duran

The thing is, most of their music initially gets trashed by the "critics" and 5 to 10 years later, everyone about-faces and fawns at how great a band DD is. The fact is, these guys are so ahead of the curve in terms of musical tastes that a lot of so-called "critics" balk because the product delivered does not fit in the box they have put DD in. that pisses me off to no end because these guys are so awesome they deserve a level of recognition well beyond the one they are at currently.

when was this released? It looks like & sounds like something from 1996/1997

to Countess - i'm pretty sure it was released around 1998. and if i remember right - this video was the very first video to ever be released on the internet. considering that, and in many other aspects, Duran has always been ahead of their time.

and while the music "critics" trashed the album this song is on, "Medazzaland", IMO, i think it's one of their best albums, and i highly recommend it to Duran fans if you don't have it already.

She is suppose to be Barbarella Jane Fonda's Character In the 1968 Movie for which the Band got their Name. By another Character in the Movie Named Dr. Durand Durand but shortened it to Duran Duran.Great Tribute!

to perpetual. just to clarify, according to several interviews with Simon when this song was released, the girl in the video is not supposed to be Barbarella, bur rather the girl is a robot. Simon also said about this video that it's supposed to represent how stupid and shallow men can sometimes be. the only thing relating to Babarella in this video is the reference in the lyrics of how they chose the name of the band, which you are spot on about, as you said in your comment.
