  • Really Great Setup,

    Talk about quick response!

Can you share your Setup in more detail?

    Thanks

  • @dkaplan2005 The setup is straight forward. The rig is DC powered 100 watt, brand and model don't really matter, power is provided by 2 deep cycle batteries (capable of providing duty for many hours), antenna is a mulitband vertical that breaks down into easily manageable segments (less than 4'), the laptop runs through it's internal battery supply and is assisted by a DC-AC inverter when needed. All of this fits in the back of an S10 Blazer with room for supplies, clothing and overnight gear

  • i got a better device its called a cell phone

  • @IRONMAIDENFAN2006 Cell phones are one of the first devices to fail during periods of emergency. The cell towers are designed to handle less than 6% of all active phones before failure. That percentage is based on 2005 statistics. With the cell usage now I'm certain that percentage has fallen substantially.

  • I know this dude, nice guy. He's the president of the Bullitt Amateur Radio Society in Bullitt Co. KY. which is just south of Louisville.

  • Thanks for the kudos. The presentation will be happening this coming January again. WHY do these things have to happen when it's cold?

Currently I am using 3 Radios one HF a 2M and a D-STAR HT and a Diamond HV7A as well as a home brew .. but I need to find a good way to add the Radials. Have a 30 W Solar Cell Charging a starved acid Battery and a good inverter .. but no where near as fast (yet) ..

    Thanks again,
