High voltage explosion compilation

Basically it's a 12,000V 35µF power factor correction capacitor that charges up, and then I discharge it down welding cables to whatever is at the end. The metal is turned to plasma faster than it can expand, making a ridiculously loud boom and spraying metal and metal oxides all over the floor and in the air.

Isn't that plume going up from the vaporized copper quite toxic to inhale?

Yeah, but whatever. If I live that long. Can't be worse than smoking or playing with high voltage or whatever. I don't go running over and sniff it too many times, and the research building has an air system that should take care of it.

Also, some thicker aluminum should do nicely because you get about twice as much energy out of it as you put in because of the aluminum burning soon after the explosion. I think I'll cut some strips from a pop can and try them tomorrow.

Actually I was just thinking of making some magnesium strips from a block I have at home and doing this with them. Today was devoted to improvements, but tomorrow will be extensive testing.
