Just wanted to show people what I can do really. This is just some improvisational work based on something Steve Reich did.

  • this isn't pure glass...glass' technique in developing music is quite different then what is being done here

  • Never said it was my dear fellow. And read the info box next time, it would solve your need of messaging me. What I did was take a cell that Steve Reich derived/composed, and did something musically creative with it.

  • what's the this music name?

  • It's not a piece.

    It's an improvisation.

So it doesn't have a name.

  • I'm sorry, but it doesn't have much in common with Steve Reich music besides the opening pattern. The whole thing reminds Glass or Nyman, but the develpment you use has nothing to do with Steve Reich's technique.

  • Fair enough. But it was based on a sequence by Reich I was taught in A level music.

I agree with the Phillip Glass.

But are you reffering to Michael Nyman?

  • @Moxfax but you improv beautifully, you should just pick a different scale(preferrably one that is atonal to this) so that people don't say you're ripping him off by just moving the scale over a note, or on another octave!

  • i like it, sounds like the stuff i like to do :)

  • Very good improv! nice job. Almost puts you in a trance.

  • Erm actually it does have a name - Piano Phase by Steve Reich; well beginning was. And I liked what you did with it btw. Not too sure about the Major 6th chord though. And the random right hand shots - - thanks for the upload anyhoo!

  • what's the sequence in the beginning? and around 2:20

  • I always wondered what you could do with that sequence of Reichs...nice, like it. Sure it's not a phase piece like Reichs, but I like the progression.:)
