@spjuit No they can't. Windows block the uvb from coming in thats why you have to have the bulbs. I've taken plenty of reptiles outside and so far nothing as happened to any of them. I got an 8ft. tegu that is potty trained and he goes outside when my dogs do and during winter he hybernates.

And they can't get that through a window? Seriously, the lizard gets stressed, it can catch a cold (wich is deadly), another animal can take it and the natural instincts can kick in (just like this case). So it's safer to keep it indoors and open windows now and then to get fresh air.

@spjuit You should take it outside every once in a while. Natrual UV is way better for it then the UVB lights.

Never ever take a lizard outside unless it's completely tame and fullgrown.
I did'nt take out my last iguana because he got scared of everything, even the wind.
Hope you learned something from your experience.
