As much as I enjoy rock and all that, I also like classical music. It's beautiful, wholesome music that is pretty damn timeless.

I have been a complete fan since age 4 1/2 - I'm 'old' now. I think it a huge mistake to try and bring a recruit in with the classical and romantic composers, though - just too many social cliche associations, cultural ditto, and an era whose emotions do not seem so immediate to a neophyte. Try something by Carter, or all those earlier 20th Century masters (leave the serialists for later!) to engage / surprise that person you wish to draw into this great body of works.

classical is harder to play and is superior since other kinds of music just satisfy your most basic human instincts.

I think classical music is not popular today because people do not have fun so much like when they listen other kinds of music. People can dance and be wild when they listen rock, pop, techno...they are involved in it...but when they listen classical, they are passive and I think because of that they think its boring. I love to listen it, but if it can not be changed in way that brings more fun to modern people, which is I believe the main reason of any kind of music, I believe it will die soon.

this academic western music is one of the most beautiful creations of human beings, it's unbelievable how humans can write operas and symphonies, and at the same time create massive weapons that can destroy a whole country.......
gracias a diso que existen expresiones tan bellas como el arte musical, que ocntraresten un poco la bajeza humana

I grew up with Western classical music. The only thing that bothers me is that people forget to tag it as WESTERN CLASSICAL MUSIC. India has Carnatic music, which is classical. China and Japan, Thailand and Cambodia also have their own classical forms.

Have them kids listen to Jean-Féry Rebel's "Chaos" from his symphony-ballet Les Elémens (1737) and then ask them what they think of it. :)
I love classical music and I have listened to it for many years. I don't know why some people say that it is boring when they haven't heard any classical music at all. I love classical music and I always will. Great video!
