  • @boinnng Thanks, im on my new account because i forgot the password but still get the emails, go figure! Yes, this train toured america in 1976 and was a great spectacle. They borrowed artifacts from various mueseums and private collections to show on the trains. After the train was retired all the artifacts were given back to their owners, and around 1995, all the cars were scrapped. The engines that pulled it are still around, and 1, 4449 is still operational. Hope this helps! Thanks!!

  • I remember back in the 70s, around the time of the bicentennial year (1976), there was something called "The Freedom Train" that went from town to town with a walk through museum of sorts with stuff from our nation's history. I'm guessing this is it? The ONLY thing I remember seeing in it was Dorothy's dress from "The Wizard of Oz". I wonder where that particular dress went after that onboard train display ended... What happened to the train itself and all of its displays? Thanks for posting.
