Levon Helm and guests - Forever Young - Ryman Auditorium 9/17/08

(warning: video quality not great, as I was trying to be discreet, but you get the point. warning #2: the performance of this classic appears to have been thrown together at the last second, as many of Levon's guest didn't know the song or when whose turn it was to sing. Other than that, it's great!)

Levon Helm and the Ramble on the Road with special guests performing Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" at the Ryman Auditorium on 9/17/08. Guests include Delbert McClinton, John Hiatt, Sheryl Crow, Steve Earle, Allison Moorer, Sam Bush, Buddy Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.

Alison Krauss and Robert Plant joined in earlier for Leadbelly's "In the Pines (Where Did You Sleep Last Night?)", but were not apart of the group for this encore singalong to close out a 2.5+ hour plus show at the Mother Church in Nashville.

I was there also, with my wife. We've been together almost 20 years, and it was one of our most memorable nights together. I knew it was going to be a special night beforehand, when I cam face to face with Robert Plant. I wanted to ask "What are YOU doing here."

What a night! Levon is amazing, and it was a fitting tribute in the best possible place ,the beloved Ryman. Levon radiated joy and love, and we just gave it right back to him! God bless the man!!!
