Matthew Hardy's
Memorable Aussie Moments
(Transcript)
Some moments are memorable for the wrong reasons... like the Cronulla Riots.
The instigators were ignorant idiots, especially the one who wrote 'We Grew Here -- You Flew Here' on his own chest, in zinc cream.
My Vietnamese neighbour, Tran, saw this on the TV and said that while he respected his right to free speech
And Tran said he had to admit -- as far as racism goes -- it was a catchy slogan, written by the bogan.
'We Grew Here -- You Flew Here'
Two lines, and it rhymes.
However, Tran pointed out that there was a major flaw in the bogan's beliefs. He said that most immigrants can't _afford_ to fly here, which is why they're called boat people in the first place!
So when Tran saw this bogan's name, address and occupation in the paper after he'd been charged, he decided to send the bogan his _own_ slogan.
The bogan's occupation was listed as 'long term unemployed'.
So Tran sent him a t-shirt which said
'I Sailed Here -- You Failed Here!'
