I have in for Modification and tune-up a fellow C.T rs ( Charlie Tango dx group) cobra 148 gtl-dx radio, its a MK2 version PB010AB chassis, ive modded it for 28.000 to 28.775 mhz with Alphas, he asked is it possible to fit a Superstar type counter to it, it is, its straight forward, here is the radio

  • Tony, I dont really use the Resistors althougth theres no reasont not to use them if you wish so. As for the wiring its available on line fom variuos places, Its all much the same, You can put the wires to the mode switch or to the back of the curuit board, If i am hard wiring the counter to the radio i wire the counter to the main board, If i use a multi way connector on the rear of the radio i put the wires on the mode switch.

  • What has Youtube done to the look of the pages, It looks terrible, It looks like its been designed by a Chimp... Bring back the Old 'Classic' style.

  • Hi can you send me the wiring connections for the frequency counter. Thanks Tony

ps this looks different than what ive been told, like putting the wires on the mode switch via 10k resistor.

  • @24nov67 the expansion uses diodes as in the original binary codeing, the original crystal hasnt been changed, nor any changes to any of the inductors, in all the years ive been moding these radios extra frequency drift hasnt been a problem, i suppose it depends on what you do to actually mod these sets as there are a few ways to do it.

  • @24nov67 I dont find it drifts anymore than the normal amount, they all drift a bit from cold until the radio gets upto temperature, but i dont find that adding the counter makes it any worse.

  • @MrMadjones How was the radio for stability after the expansion? as sometimes once they're converted they can begin to drift.

  • @24nov67 26.065 mhz

  • What frequency does it start from now it's been expanded?
