Ironic, it wasn't he Shah but Saddam Hussein who invaded neighboring Kuwait for its oil fields. That profile he quoted fits Hussein to a tee.

@am1966ath This prediction was based on an anticipated reduced demand due to over production.. In fact, after 1980, oil prices began a six-year decline that culminated with a 46 percent price drop in 1986, due to reduced demand and over-production that produced a glut on the world market. Overall, OPEC's net export oil revenues declined in the 1980s. He wasn't talking about oil wells running out.
