This is Limantour Beach after the fog lifted. There were a few people, and dogs, there but not too many. Dogs are allowed South of the entrance to the beach but not allowed North of the entrance because the land flattens out and quite a bit of it is covered/uncovered by the tides. This makes it very popular with many birds and so it is protected.

  • Beautiful, but dangerous. Many people have died from walking in the waters of the Pacific Ocean. There are "sneaker" waves that are much bigger than most of the other waves and if you aren't watching for them they can surprise you, knock you off your feet and pull you into the deeper water. I was taking pictures at Trinidad Beach and standing where the water was below my knees at its highest mark and a sneaker wave came in that was over my head and I was completely soaked. Now I am more careful.

  • I just moved from California to Ohio and I have Lake Erie 1 mile away. I miss Point Reyes so much.

  • Oh, I want to walk in the waves so badly :) Very beautiful.
