The ultimate gent and lady of the silver screen, Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn were both immortalised in our hearts and minds in the beautiful romance that is Roman Holiday.

We all know the film, princess yearns for a normal life, runs away from the palace and bumps into a handsome chap, and they spend the rest of the day having fun. But all good things come to an end, and the finale of this film is perhaps one of the saddest, cutest but best endings ever filmed.

Peck is not only a gent onscreen, for offscreen he was so impressed with newcomer Audrey, he was so sure that she was going to be one of the greatest stars, he insisted that producers gave her top billing, and tipped her for an Oscar. Peck's kindness paid off, when Audrey won her first and only Oscar for Best Actress.

This film is one of my all time favs, and so is this song. Weekend in New England by Barry Manilow. Yes I know the film is set in Rome not New England, and it only lasts a day not a weekend, but the rest of the lyrics are so fitting for the romance, it just had to be done.

Very true --- this is one of the cutest TV-couples ever! And this movie is just SO wonderful. Beautiful tribute, by the way. I enjoyed it a lot! :) And Barry's very romantic song was just perfect.
