I loved Janine in Northern Exposure and have always thought she was a skilled actress. However, my background is very different from hers. I grew up in California with liberal parents and was shaped and influenced by their values and perceptions. As I understand, Janine grew up in Texas in a traditional, conservative family and she has been shaped by their ideas. Most of us like to think we are original thinkers and independent adults, but the truth is we do think like our parents.
