Never install a Satellite dish on a wood pole! Its a service call waiting to happen, as the pole (even teated) ages it will warp, twist, shrink, and bend. The antenna will require constant retuning over the years. Maybe thats their intention? It's against SBCA rules to install in this fashion, don't let them rip you off. You need a METAL pole, burried at LEAST 3' here in the Metro area on MN. USA
I say the customer didn't want to pay for the pole mount and instead told the tech to install in there.

@Nando85ec you can run your coax cable through a grounding block and then make sure that block is grounded to a grounding rod. Cable companies do it to their lines all the time.

one of the worst installs i've seen lol, would be nice if the installer actually buried the cable to the house...

@Miester187 Read the comment of the person who post the video. Wood poles will ''warp, twist, shrink and bend'' if this happen the satellite dish could point somewhere else in the future. If that happens you will have to set again the direction to the satellite.
I'd like to know how to ground a satellite dish line (coaxial). I had cable tv long time ago and received a discharge that blasted my tv, vhs, cable receiver... Anyone?
