Opening a newly arrived Box of Silver Canadian Maples and a Box of Austrian Philharmonics + 4 Gold Canadian Maples that i bought with my Brother from the US through eBay.

I must say a big thank you to Nikki817 of eBay who does a great job when selling these online. I have found her to be honest and trustworthy and if you are interested in buying from the US i highly recomend you search for her through eBay.

Another big thank you to John Christian of Stellaconcepts - the Silver Guru of Australia ( in my books anyways). Check out and subscribe to his videos for an up to date insight into Silver Bullion and world related issues - Highly rated.

  • Very nice bro. That's crazy how much extra you have to pay though.

  • its a shame the TAX office didn't consider it an investment when i bought, they will sure claim it as an investment when i sell it ... unless i trade it for a house or something :)

  • Since they are all coins, can you declare the face value of them instead of the metal value?

  • When i bought a box of US Eagles the sender put the value as 500 x $1 coins (face value). Anything under $1000 is gst free. When i got these canadians and austrians, it was a little different as the canadians have a $5 face value. So the sender was unable to do the same thing. I paid GST on this batch of coins which added almost $3000 to the total sale, they were still cheaper than buying coins from the Perth Mint though.

  • Perth mint charge 50% premium which is not charged on coins from US mints. you are still saving 40% approx. You still have to consider freight and insurance which is nothing compared to the value of the metal.

  • did you get taxed for that when it came in since its so much??

  • in future i will purchase under $1000 dollars at a time.... No GST is applicable on bullion imported into Aus under $1000. The customs website says that silver and gold of 99.9 fineness in bullion form for investment purposes is GST free. But then there is all this fine print saying you have to buy from a dealer and that you must be a dealer among other scam wording. A dealer does not buy it as an investment. A dealer buys it to sell on. To hold and sell at a later date is investment.
