This emerging field involves creating entirely new therapeutics -- even new organisms -- using the basic building blocks of life. Due to manipulation of these building blocks, the field has controversial aspects, but holds great promise for treating for many diseases and cleaning the environment.

  • Well Craig, you may never read this, but as I have no other way of addressing you I suppose this will have to do. I am both elated and deflated by your Dimbleby lecture. But in general I am in agreement with you and your arguments for the ongoing developement of synthetic bioligcal stuff.
