  • I did this to my first pair of filters, I think it broke them... They stopped working

  • @XXTheRealMcCoyXX Pls elaborate and we can assist you. you can also contact us at customerservice at our website address

  • @ThirstyBerkey

You already have, I put in my warrantee last month and they sent out a replacement, no questions asked and I didn't even need to send the broken ones back (which would have been very expensive for me)

thanks for the help guys, but I don't know what happened to them, thats why I'm watching your videos again, thinking I did something wrong... but no, they just stopped working, both of them on the same month! which I found very odd, we don't tamper with them that often.

  • @XXTheRealMcCoyXX Ok, there's some articles on our site in the "berkey help" that may be able to assist you. My guess is that either rust of high calcium has collected on the outside of the filters and clogged them not allowing water to flow through them. The is not uncommon and cleaning the filters with a scotch brite pad to remove that clogging residue should solve your problem. There are also some additional means to clean the filters discussed in the "helpful hints" article on the site

  • Are you saying 'beating' or 'beading'? I can't tell what she's outlining with her finger on the filter.

  • @phytoalexa yes, it's "beading", or some refer to it as "sweating"

    thank you.

except to clean the chamber 2-3 times a week...

I would like to make a suggestion if I may.... Make the wing nuts bigger, thicker and stronger... the thread which screws on to the little plastic pipes can become loose, I don't want to have to glue them on....

  • @ryguy2598 Yes, the systems are used around the world in this fashion everyday in areas where potable water is not available. It would not be necessary to boil the water, however extra precautions like boiling the water or adding a disinfectant prior to filtering are never discouraged.

  • So can I feel safe to drink creek or pond water after filtering it through the Berkey system? Of course I would boil it as an extra precaution, but can I feel safe?
