6) Indians are hated, harassed and attacked not only in Australia and Europe but also in Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, China, South Africa, America and South American region. One wonders as to why Indians are despised and loathed the world over? Perhaps Indian caste system imbibed in their way of life, cultural norms and social mores has an answer. The Indian socialization process is based on prejudices and social discrimination.

5) India has been classified as "free" by Freedom House, a US based NGO, in its '05 survey. Still, it isn't worth a three-finger salute as 76 countries were ranked higher than India. Another survey, this one on economic freedom, classifies India as "mostly unfree", ranking us near the bottom at 118 amongst 155 nations.

Sometimes the woman is killed by setting her on fire; this is known as "bride burning", and sometimes disguised as suicide or accident. According to Indian police, every year it receives over 2,500 reports of bride-burning.

2) The World Bank estimates that India is ranked 2nd in the world of the number of children suffering from malnutrition, after Bangladesh (in 1998), where 47% of the children exhibit a degree of malnutrition. The UN estimates that 2.1 million Indian children die before reaching the age of 5 every year – four every minute – mostly from preventable illnesses such as diarrhoea, typhoid, malaria, measles and pneumonia. Every day, 1,000 Indian children die because of diarrhoea alone.
