guys, I have a sony DCR-SR40, and the image quality it's shit. moving or still. I'm interested in having a better youtube quality and take pictures with a DSLR. should I buy a 500d or should I wait three years and buy a HD camcoder and a D90? thanks.

depends on if you want to film in 720p or 1080p, this camera films 1080p at 20fps so you will notice a bit of jumping in fast moving subjects. In 720p it films at 30fps so you won't get any better in a dedicated camera. However to compare 20fps, normal tv channel broadcast for PAL is 24fps.

If you want to film moving subjects YES but if it's only to do still videos this camera would be good.
