Muscle cars cost less to maintain than a girl around here. When you get older you'll understand.

@OMGItsWeasel - The new Mustang V6 is a 3.8, 315 HP, 30 MPG.... phenomenal engine. The Cosworth DOHC 4.0 would probably be a better fit for the Miata, but maybe Ford Could modify the TIVCT system and Direct Injection to fit the Cosworth DOHC 4.0 and blow every other V6 on the planet's doors off XD Hell, the GTR would be scared if that came in the Miata

@Slipknotyk06 its not just a rumor, mazda MADE a couple in the late 80s.
god, today's V6s would be so boss in a miata. theres all the Nissan Z motors, fords new mustang 3.0, like you said; the cosworth V6, zomg... happy pants.

@OMGItsWeasel - I've been hearing rumors of V6 miatas for many years. They seem to keep bringing the idea back to life then killing it off because of expense then bringing it back. I heard several possible motors for a V6 Miata (2.5 V6, 3.0 Vulcan, 4.0 Cologne, Ford 3.8, Ford 3.8 supercharged) I must admit the sound of a Cosworth DOHC 4.0 with aftermarket twin turbo does sound quite alluring.

12 sticks of butter and a shoehorn...
Seriously, there is more room up there than most people think. I have seen CSB 350's and ford 351's in miatas.
I was told my someone who worked at Mazda that originally the Miata was designed with a 6 cylinder in mind. That is probably why the V8 has enough room.

Did you build this yourself, or bought it from a custom shop? How much was it if you did all the work?

It was built at Monster Motorsports in Escondido CA in 1993 where I worked for a short time. Back then the base conversion was something like $15,000. My car was used back then while I worked there for taking potential customers out for spirited test drives.
Later there was a wide body supercharged version that was supposed to be over 400 hp. It was double the price of the base conversion if I recall.
