I should have known better than to just throw those three words out like that, carelessly as I did. She still has feelings for Josh. For God's Sake! She went back to him. She's too good for him.

Walking carefully up the driveway I made my way to the front door. I didn't know why I was doing this. In fact, right now, it seems like I bad idea, the worst idea I had ever come up with. But I guess I had to make her know. I had to lay it all out. Expose myself the way I had the day before. And this time she couldn't run. She needed to hear it.

I rang the doorbell, a reminder that I couldn't turn back anymore. And then... she opened the door.

"What are you doing here?" Avery's ice pierced through me. It left me breathless, in a good way of course.

"I had to see you," it sounded like something out of a movie. When the guy messes up and ends up at the girls doorstep. My life had come to resemble the plot of a romantic comedy.

"What do you want?" She closed the door and stepped outside, wrapping her arms together.

"You can't walk away this time." I said,looking her straight in the eyes.
"I know you're with Josh--"

"I'm not." She looked down, biting her lip slightly.

"I'm sorry?"

"I lied, okay? Me and Josh never got back together. I don't know why I did it..." she trailed off.

"I love you..." I said it again,so freely. It was like a weight off my shoulders. "You have to hear it this time."

She stood motionless. Looking away from time to time. Then she nodded.

"I'm scared.. to let you in. Because you don't deserve broken pieces of a heart. You don't deserve a trainwreck." She said finally. But as she said this she never looked up at me once.

"You are in no way broken. In fact,I think you're the strongest person I know."

"Stop it."

"It's the truth."

"I said stop. You can try and swayme and make me fall but don't try and play me. I'm smart. I'm not just gonna run off with you..."

To shut her up, I went for a kiss.
