Finland's army was trained by Germany, and their initial independence was supported by Germany. I'm not sure of Russia's modern opinion of Finish independence, though.

In any case, it was Russia who attacked Finland first in the winter war, and during operation barberossa, they bombed it before Finland had even done anything.
