My first 500 experience, a small compact yet nimble little machine. With thanks to the owner I had the pleasure of flying in N239MY a Hughes 500 that served in Vietnam and later as a support helicopter for the Martin County Sheriffs Office. A common misconception many people make is believing that all 500's that served in the military as LOH heli's under the OH-6A designation, remain as OH-6's. All OH-6A helicopters that were purchased from the US army that are now flying privately are no longer OH-6A's. This is because of the extensive overhaul that is required to demilitarize these airframes allowing them a new lease of life in private hands with a fresh CofA. They're Great machine and although the weather wasn't the best, the 500 made light work of it.
Nice one mate, looks like an enjoyable flight. Didn't realise you are based in Ireland.
