@IIdemonII Well, in that video clarkson was driving slightly downhill, and he didn't check the speed with a radar, so it is perfectly possible that this wasn't the true speed.

@ralph435z Porsche happens to be quite conservative in their estimates. For an example on top gear during the test of the 911 turbo Clarkson decided to max it out. The top speed from Porsche was something like 190mph, the 911 turbo in that episode easily broke 200mph.

@FlightX101 LOL I ALWAYS GO 120MPH ON THE SANTA MONICA FREEWAY!! THE FREEWAY IS HUUUUGE AND HARDLY ANY TRAFFIC IN THE AFTERNOON

If this is a stock car, this must be speedometer error. There is no way this car should go 13mph faster than specified - that difference represents a significant amount of horsepower.

It is possible to go over 171mph because the speedometer says 190mph max! I think if you get the right options you can go over 171!

I reckon that was still accelerating. I had a Performance Box data logger on a Cayman the other day and the speedo reading is very accurate.

I was too busy trying to keep the camera still so didnt check the GPS speed on the Tomtom and there was traffic ahead so we had to start slowing down! Did seem to be still accelerating though!

I can only imagine the autobahn. Plus nurburgring??!! I wish...I wish... I live in the USA, we have nothing like this.

Yeah, awesome trip! Germany is the only place you can really explore the performance of a Porsche without getting arrested or banned from driving! And the Nurburgring is unbelievable!

So did we.. it seemed to be picking up speed ok although i will say it was slightly downhill but not very steep!
