UAL competed with USAir for last place in customer satisfaction surveys for over a decade. There was discussion of merger between them - duct taping two one-legged men together and then trying to run a race. UAL has tired airplanes, couldn't come up with money for a downpayment for new aircraft and was scheduled to deliver its first new airplane in 2018. CAL, with the youngest fleet among the legacy carriers, needed UAL??? For what ??? Lessons in bad management, poor productivity, lousy service

@crackaddict444 Yes, To represent when UA acquired Westin Hotels in 1970. Originating as a "Double U" for Westin and United's Venture. More proof that THINGS CHANGE. And guess what, in 5-6 years the logo and livery will probably change again.
Calling me uniformed is ignorant as I work for and have 60 some years of family history in United. I know (and likely was involved in) a lot of Company History. I get you're loyal, but quit being a bad voice of the company you SAY you love.
