It's time for the Evangelical church to stop using 1 Corinthians 1:10-13 as rebuke toward Calvinism. It's a mistreatment of the text and only fuels the same argument made by many unbelivers who think the church is divided because we have different denominations and points of view. The common practice here for the evangelical who does not like what Calvinism has brought forth from the scriptures, namely predestination, is to use these few verses out of context as a proof-text against holding theological viewpoints. This is a mistake and a tragedy.

The Calvinist, who is a true Calvinist and understands Calvinism, will not wear a Calvinist sticker on his forehead and play theological games with people. Conversely, an evangelical who thinks Calvinism is a reason for repentance does not understand what John Calvin taught, wrote, or preached.

Do not throw out the teachings of a great theologian because of the behavior of those who do not live it out in their lives. Theology should begat doxology and Christ was and is the centerpiece and has preeminence in all Calvinist theological endeavors. If you don't believe that then you don't know your Bible and you do not understand Reformed theology.

  • For my first fifty some years I was an Arminian. I never even heard of Calvin or had a clue what grace was all about. I loosely considered myself a protestant, mainly because I believed in Christ but neither of my parents were Catholic, so I must be a Protestant. In recent years, I have studied the scriptures and the works of great men like A.W. Pink and Loraine Boettner, and discovered that the scriptures really do say that God has chosen his people. BTW, Great video!

  • That's wonderful, thank you!

  • Very nicely done response.

The only problem I see here is that TicToc Ministries has slammed the door in our faces.

Ironic that we hold to the Truth have been blocked and I have no doubt that all of the video responses will go unwatched by TicToc.

  • Yes, I'm not sure she has even watched my responses. She has not approved any of my comments or video responses. So much for open dialogue and unity, eh?

  • Christ's atonement certainly could have secured the salvation of every man and woman that ever lived.

But this is just not Biblical. God is not indebted to man, and will display the full range of His attributes to him, which includes wrath.

It isn't something people like, nevertheless its Biblical.

  • Without casting any slurs at Monica, I think it's safe to say that she unwittingly showed the whole world that she does not know how to put Scripture in proper context. It grieves me to see people rip the Word out of its correct meaning.

  • So, actually looking to Him, the author and finisher of our faith, we avoid the Mensa debate team of theologians. That is a grwat gain over the alternative.

  • The middle was basically that we avoid big, swaggering theology and cling to the Bible when our faith has been damaged by the theological traditions of men. Then, just a believer in Jesus and going by the Bible, alone sounds pretty good. Sola scriptura sounds pretty good until someone comes along and tells you that it doesn't mean going by the Bible rather than the traditions of men at all.

  • This time, the middle part didn't post and the last posted twice! When my iPod touch says "YouTube not available," it is hard to tell if it's going to show up in a few minutes or not; the middle didn't and the last did.

  • And the reason our faith was damaged usually boils down to this issue:

  • And the reason our faith was damaged usually boils down to this issue:

(KJV) Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

(KJV) 2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

  • Sometimes we shy away from "big" theology because the labels and achools of thought do not match what we believe, and we tire of being misrepresented or pressured into conformity with things we vehemently disagree with just because we were proof-texted into a cirner about some aspect of a particular position. We also avoud the periks if false sets if alternatives that way.

  • im a jew

  • it's the same old rub, you say Calvinism is Biblical, another believer says Arminianism is Biblical; so what have you resolved?

  • Colossians 3:15

*Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
