This is a quick overview of my dads 89' Honda Hawk GT. Its got a Muzzy slipon (LOUD!) a jet kit, K&N filters, corbin seat, targa fairing, Kosman widened front wheel, preload adjustors on the forks, and a few other minor things.

We've got a bunch of other parts for this thing that will hopefully make their way onto the bike at some point. These include a fox rear shock, (still new in box) race tech gold valves, an F3 front end, VFR rear wheel, along with a VFR hub that was machined to fit the Hawk, and then NDI tested for cracks by a good friend of ours... Right now though, the bike is plenty fun as is, so we're in no rush to go pulling it apart! :)

  • nice looking hawk gt you have there. i just rebuilt one of these with a big bore kit and its now my first bike. i love it. ive had it at the track a couple of times and it still holds it own. i loooove the sound of that v twin

  • @vsm4me Thanks! They are certainly great bikes! It was up at deals gap with it last weekend, and it held its own nicely! :) People are always amazed when you tell them its a 22 year old motorcycle!

  • Wow. That is a beautiful example of a cult favorite. I have never seen that type of fairing on a GT but it looks great.

  • @calineophyte Thank you! I get compliments on this bike everywhere I go. That aluminum frame stands out even today, and most people think its 10 years newer than it actually is! Thats a Targa fairing, which is kind of a period aftermarket item. They're actually fairly common, or at least they were back in the day!

  • @Mtrhd0024 There is a guy, Danny Coe, who rides the same mountains as I do. He tests bikes for Motorcycle Consumer News that has a couple of these GTs and he loves them and is very fast on them too. It was on my short list when I was in the market for a V twin sporty bike but I ended up with a Duc. Enjoy and ride safe.

  • @calineophyte Oh okay cool! Where are you from? I'm from NC, so you'll see me in the mountains of NC and VA most weekends... We used to have another GT but dad sold it to his brother... He's still got it, and if he doesn't do anything with it, I'll be buying it back from him. What kind of Ducati did you buy? I'd love a go on a Hypermotard. hehehe!

  • Is this a 400 or 600?

  • @TheLucas2696 Also, if you guys would happen to know where I could get an aftermarket, hopefully higher capacity tank, I'd appreciate it!

  • I have one of these as well, mine's a '90. It has the VFR front wheel, kerker pipe, overbore 1mm, high lift cam, jetted, Fox racing shock, and a steering stabilizer. I hope to put a VFR rear wheel on it as well. What did you have to do to the spindle to make it work?

  • @Mtrhd0024 I am from Toronto in Canada but I am presently living and riding near Los Angeles. I ended up with a 1998 Ducati 900FE. I like the simplicity of a 2 valve Desmo. You can see the FE in some of my videos. Those Hypermotards are sick. I've got to rent one one day. It's a little too focused for me to consider buying one.
