The 2012 Mayan Apocalypse is only a few days away . . .

and there are a lot of people wondering if it's going to happen. Sorry to burst your bubble, but (Spoiler Alert) nothing's going to change.The so-called Mayan long count calendar predication of the apocalypse is based a fundamental MISUNDERSTANDING of Mayan calendars and society. It's so far off base that scientific and anthropological experts can dismiss it with laugh. Yet, if it's so fundamentally wrong, why do we keep hearing about it? I don't go looking for the REAL end of the world. I really enjoy that stuff in movies and books and games, it's entertaining, but end of world stuff scares me(I'm a wuss) in real life, I don't go looking for it. The only reason I knew about 2012 was because EVERYONE was talking about it at some point.

People look for the end of the world, because in this rat race of the world, we want to know exactly how much time is left on earth, to do things that they really want to express.....example: there is 30 days left on earth, you know this for certain.....what are some things that you would do in the 30 days? as oppose to 30 mins left on earth.....only time tells and dictates what we want to do. ......my view of the world...

People search for the end of the world, because they want to be right. They want to sit there while the volcano erupts, the Dalek invade or the zombies come marching in, yelling "SEE?! I TOLD YOU! THE WORLD ENDS!". At least that's my take on it.

People want it because they like to be scared like people playing slender

People do want the world to end. It's exciting. They like to feel the fear, the uncertainty such predictions hold, others are miserable in general and want an excuse to finally "live". And still, there is that question on everyone's mind... "Who was right?". People like to be told what to believe.
