You will never defeat a foe who's main purpose in life is to become a martyr. Sure you can weaken them, but they always come back. How would you respond if the Russian military was occupying your block and "accidentally killing your neighbors".

It's always sad when people rant and rail about the number of civilians killed by American soldiers in Iraq, then forget to mention the number of civilians killed by the extremists fighting the American soldiers. These are the same murderers who strap bombs onto their children so they can blow up in a crowd of innocent civilians. The same people who teach their kids that it's God's will to kill innocent people. Go look up the numbers and you'll see who the real savages are!

i think that this war is fucked up since day one because the rebels and taliban fight for free and by their own will most of the time they aint got none to loose they are been bombed and overpowered but still dont give up and dont even care about the oil, they just want to kill some and get the allies the fuck out their country...

It's called using technology to your advantage. The insurgents cannot win a war using guns, if they tried this war would have been over five years ago. As for us, we have put money into technology to keep us safe, which involves striking targets from distance. Sure, me and my boys can go in and kick Iraqi ass, but there is better ways to fight. Suicide bombing IS NOT one of them.

Fight smart, not hard.

@thehasslessydney I agree. We should leave the Middle East to itself. The US government should stop all military action and foreign aid, focus on our problems here in the US, and let all other nations do the same. If we did, however, we would then be criticized for leaving innocent people to be oppressed under brutal theocratic rule. Then we would be called savages for not helping the poor and defenseless against merciless tyrants when we have the ability to do so. This is a no-win situation.

@Waveth I agree that criticism will do little, if anything, to stop terrorists from killing innocent civilians. If anything, the attention will encourage them to do more harm. But let's not compare apples to oranges. There is an enormous difference between accidentally killing an innocent person and methodically looking for opportunities to cause as much death and suffering to innocent civilians as possible. That is a terrorist, and that is who the American soldier is trying to eradicate.

@spudmustang What is your point, it's okay to kill civilians because they do it too? You are taking your moral cues from suicide bombers? It's barbarism on both sides of the fence, the whole mess is savagery; since we are the ones doing the invading, however, the onus is on us to stop it.

Courage isn't enough. It's an impossible task. Same hit and run tactics beat the British in the revolutionary war. The Afghanii's are on their own for better or worse. sadly it's more likely for the worse.

Maybe the Chinese will try next time history doesn't favor them but they will try.
