  • I've heard the same question many times, "what did you do... Where did you go??" Well Mr StealthSpankaMonkey, for the record - By the time I had exited my car, I could see my other two MR2 friends running back towards John's car. I then fulfilled the other role - running back up the track round the blind bend crash-helmet held in the air (the 'Ring symbol to other drivers that there was an accident ahead) - and then awaited the track stewards arrival

  • There's always someone who thinks they know better...Anyway, good to see your mate was ok, was he covered by insurance?

  • As it happens... He Was! At the time, the special "MR2 Drivers Club" Insurance policy covered track useage - and so the cost of the car, Recovery to the UK, Hire car, and some 10,000Eur of barrier was covered... Very Lucky! All UK insurance and road-recovery policies now exclude track useage - some exclude the Nurburgring by name...

  • sorry bout ur loss respect x

    nice car to bout 190bhp?

  • Revision3 MR2 Turbos are 241Bhp from factory... John's was mildly tweaked - probably running ~280Bhp at the flywheel

  • Pleased no one got hurt.....I couldn't help noticing the humorous 'hare and tortoise' moment though as the old Renault 4CV potters past the incident at about 40 mph. Hope he got the car fixed ok.

  • I spin out at that part in GT5 all the time.

  • wtf was a beetle doing there?

  • so did the brakes cause the spin... like the braking caused a weight shift to the front tires, which then gave more grip to turning and also lost grip in the back which caused the slide?

  • shite driving... careless overtaking, too fast, braking in wrong point,

cock should not have been going so fast in a shite car... or even on the track

if i was the insurance co, i would dismiss this claim. it was no accident, just shite driving.....

  • Looks like a bitch of a tough corner = off camber and downhill? But can't 'second-guess' your decision once committed and stab at the brakes like that, all doubtful and ambivalent. It's where a bit o' courage and sum confidence would come in real handy, huh?

That VW sauntering along 30 seconds later = too funny! Why pay 10+ pounds to take a Bug on 'the Ring' when one could drive like that through any school zone?!

  • thats why you dont touch the brake going into a corner

  • @p6ulo renault?! isn't that the 'vw bug' he passed before?

  • lol that bug coming aside very peacefully..he didn't enter the track after that round again i guess x-)

  • Sorry to see what happened though. Looks like was too far on the inside so he had to step hard on the brakes to avoid understeer

  • I love how the previously passed-up old-school bug passes by like the driver's saying "Ha ha! Slow cars FTW!"
