Sunday Kitchen #81 Pineapple Lumps

Pineapple Lumps are a NZ lolly (I didn't know they were from NZ ... just found this out). These are like pineapple lumps, but better. Sooo good.

Chilly bin is NZ English.
Also called: cool bag, cool box (UK)
cooler (US)
esky (Australia)

  • That pineapple must have cost 3000 Yen in Japan, where fruit is really expensive.

Is it difficult to be a vegetarian in Japan? When I was there I ate so much fish, chicken, seafood, sushi, takoyaki, yakitori, izakaya, eel etc....

Only place I found good veggie cuisine was Kyoto.

Now,back home, I'm mostly veggie, but to eat that way in Japan would have been almost impossible for me.

    How do you do it?

  • It was 300 yen. Not too bad, I thought. How do I do it? Well, I hardly ever eat out, so it's no problem at all :) If I eat out I can always find something to eat, it just usually takes a bit of extra communication with staff. I've never thought of it as "difficult" because that other stuff doesn't seem like food to me - like human flesh to a non-zombie.

  • i live in NZ

  • I should make these for my husband come summer. Pineapples and chocolate are two of his favorite foods!

  • Sarah the banana killer!

  • 300 yen is about 2 euros. Pretty hard not to afford it if you ask me. :)

How much would it be to go out to a restaurant in Niseko?
