Gameplay from Moon Patrol, playing on the Atari 400/800 XL/XE 8 bit vintage home computer. Retro Gaming.

Big thanks to my good friend Mark for sending this game to me, along with many others, on a very cool flash cart.

This is not a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability.
It's more a case of me speaking my thoughts while playing the games, many for the first time, and most for the first time in a very long time... so it's all a little spontaneous and random.
Predictably, as I never practice before recording, I usually play very badly.

Given that I am playing many of these games for the first time, and everything I say is completely off the cuff, you probably shouldn't take what I say overly seriously. The opinions that I express are my feelings at the time, but it's entirely possible that they would be different if I were to take the time to get to grips with the game.
However, given that these videos are intended to show that "first time experience", I believe they have some validity or merit.
If you'd like to know more about why I make my videos the way that I do, it's all explained in this video

  • As much as I like Moon Patrol, you've got to admit that the buggy looks weird and deformed in pretty much every single port of the game.

The original arcade version might be at fault for this, the original buggy is a crudely drawn pink blob with some cannons stuck to it, with three wheels that don't even look round :)

Nevertheless the nice suspension effect and fun gameplay made up for it :D

  • @Starxxon Absolutely, it really is a messed up looking thing on the home versions.

  • The simple games usually tend to be the most fun.

There was a 2600 version, and it got the important bits right, but it is just not the same without that music.

It is just the opposite here, the public workers have some ridiculous benefits that are paid for with taxes collected from the private sector employees. The differences in our countries always fascinate me, but not as much as the similarities.

Cowboys and Aliens was a fun movie, but it didn't do so well at the box office. Too bad.

  • @edt1138 There's a misconception here that public sector workers are given a higher than normal pension by being subsidised via private sector taxes. It's not true. What people aren't told is that the public sector workers pay a lot more in terms of contributions. The misinformation on the subject over here is disgraceful.

I didn't know Cowboys & Aliens hadn't done well. Shame... coz it's very enjoyable... and "13" is utterly droolworthy.

  • Hi Steve! Greetings from Finland! I like your videos, keep going! :)

  • Great game, must look out for 2600 version

  • I loved this game. One of the few games that was halfway decent/enjoyable on most other systems except, of course, for the abysmal Amstrad port. Same thing, imho, with DigDug. Highly enjoyable even on the 2600...

  • Cool game
