This film was my senior thesis project at Pittsburgh Filmmakers. I wanted to share the history of oil that began in Pennsylvania. To look at what seemed like a simple discovery created the world we live in today. Hope you enjoy!

  • You must do some careful research. Oil was indeed discovered not in PA, but in Oil Springs, Ontario, Canada. The first oil industry was in Oil Springs and Petrolia, not Titusville. This is a classic example of history being rewritten.

  • Thanks for you comment. There is a lot of conjecture on this subject. And if you want to get into the nitty gritty, China and Japan were drilling oil in 300 CE. I know nothing about Oil Springs and Petrolia, but after a quick wikipedia check I do see they had a commercial oil well there a year before the one in Oil Creek. My intention was to inform people about this specific place that is a part of our Pennsylvanian heritage and I beg to be forgiven for one wrong line in my film.

  • Thanks, Dad!
