燒鮑魚 BBQ Abalone (Japan Trip 2008)

Shot in Japan at a BBQ 燒肉 restaurant. They cook the 鮑魚 (bao yu / abalone) in front of you. I filmed the whole process. Very tasty... and expensive.

That is a Abalone a species of sea snail the ediable kind and Abalones aren't limted to Asia either they are also found in the US, Australia, New Zeland, South Africa and the Channel islands.

Is this black abalone? If so, they were listed on the endangered species list January the following year. Probably would be difficult to find now a days.

i wouldn't be comfortable eating it while it's still moving, not really sure how you would kill it without ruining it though.
