The next time they meet should be during an air show during peace time.Neither of them should take to the sky again after such an event. The both of them should have retired that day from war and fighting, but high command will not have it....
His heart would be filled with self hatred, regret and lack of self respect had he shot down Udet in his moment of weaknest. There's no glory in that manner of death, killing or in living. To shoot down a handicap plane is not a brave death is it ? more like out of fear, revenge and hatred.Guynemer is beyond that,as a warrior he's out there to test himself,to know his own personal character. He's telling himself that he could be brave and also merciful.Perfect self control,a master of himself..
Udet doese not like the Nazis much, but he doese love to fly planes.I dont think he gave much thought to the movements against the Jews. His joy is in the sky,not so much the filth down below...
Udet didnt surrender either.I dont see any white flag being toss out of the open cockpit.Udet would rather die and Guynemer knew it.They already prepared for death the day they took to the sky. It's a love hate relationship between these noble warriors. They have respect for each other courage and craftmanship.Guynemer will give Udet a warrior, not a handicap death. So Udet live to fight another day, well actually he shot himself ;)))))
