Not on your life would I get in one of these things. I watched one go down while on holidays at the Sirenas la Salina Resort in Varedero Cuba in December. It crashed not 50 yards from where I was standing. Both occupants dead, not a pretty sight. It was absolutely horrific watching it fall out of the sky.

Yes, this was horrible. Specialist discovered it was critical part of the frame that should be replaced and it was not. This is not the Brio Flying Boat I manufacture, but it could hapen to it too. Unfortunately, accidents hapens all the time with cars, trains, motorcycles, airplanes and boats because of lack of required maintenance and some times results are dramatic.

I feel sorry for you being a witness of this tragedy.

what are the running costs of this brilliant machine? and high does it go?

Thnak you. The fuel consumption is 15 litres per hour. The ceiling is 10000 feet max. A brand new machine costs aorund U$ 35k

It is wise to use beachs without crowd. The aircraft legislation changes from country to country. In Brazil we can take off on beaches as long it does not expose risk to people. So populated beaches is an issue.

Funny, you put a 4K$ engine on a 1K$ boat equipped with a 2K$ wing and they charge you 35K$. I'm sure they will add a fishfinder for free...

@flybrio £35k is a crazy cost for that. I don't know much about aircraft but any car is more complicated and harder to construct than that yet costs a fraction of the price.

Should be closer to the cost of a regular car cos its a pretty simple thing.
