unable to tell how severe that crash was ,but just goes to show how well MK2 coaches were built, find it hard to see why there was such an urgency to import new trains.

i know just a simple lap belt at least will do.

Why not allow passengers to use seat belts on trains if we want to? You can't buckle up because the train doesn't have any belts. Much less air bags. How stupid is that?
Seat belts? Not invented here. Better you should die than the trains have to provide something invented for airplanes and used in autos!

The railcar isn't damaged, but the dummies are thrown head first until they hit something or slam against the hard table tops.
The railroad's equipment wasn't damaged, except for bloodstains on the upholstery. I guess Amtrak thinks of seatbelts and airbags in the classic way: Not invented here, no thanks.
