GROFUN is a beautifully simple idea with a beautifully silly name. GROFUN stands for 'Growing Real organic food in Urban Neighbourhoods' and coordinates groups of neighbours in communities cooperatively growing food in their own back gardens, sharing labour, skills, resources and last but not least-the delciious home-grown produce itself.

  • great stuff .. who is that Nads girl .. she's gorgeous ... reminds me of a girl I met at Greenbelt 55 years ago ...

  • Love the video. cant wait to be involved and do my bit. Only find the yahoo bits'n'pieces by accident rather than design - when I've learnt to do it by design I'll maybe catch on to what's going on and when and turn up to something! Anne

  • Imagine if most neighbourhoods did this, what a wonderful place our towns and cities would be to live in, improvement in health and wealth too. Imagine the increase in biodiversity, the wildlife habitat. Fantastic thanks for posting.

  • It's like an allotment society on tour! There must be loads of people who want to grow their own and know the benefits, but haven't yet got the know-how or confidence. What a brilliant way of getting people started!

If you haven't already, look up Rob Hopkins' blog Transition Culture. Stuff like this is the future!

Oh, and love the music too.

  • wicked wicked an bad

  • hey that really is a wicked idea hope it spreads across the globe fantastic

  • Hi Chris

Its probably the speed of your connection, so my advice is to go make a cup of tea or turn down the sound and phone a friend, then watch the film in full when the red bar has had a chance to progress a bit. Catch my drift?

  • hey there mate been trying to watch the film and lovin the bits i can see but its a long job cos it keeps freezing up. a bit like this glorious weather we are having woopee im gonna phone ya

  • This is great and as Gaea says, truly inspirational. Well done to all involved!!!!!

  • Wonderful, I love the laughter, so natural! As we grow mor of our own food so we recreate, we reclaim our independence, from a system that grows food for profits using chemicals and processes the abuse nature.
