http://www.kiva.org - Kiva lets you make a loan to a specific low-income entrepreneur -- empowering them to lift themselves out of poverty.

Citlali Group, Mexico, Food: Grocery Store
http://www.kiva.org/lend/350695

Camila and Hortencia are new members of the group. They will use their loan to buy sugar, oil, soap, soft drinks, toilet paper, and sweets.

Camila is 75 years old and does not have children. She has a grocery store. She requested her loan to stock her store. She will buy sugar, oil, chocolates, eggs, soap, milk, rice, soft drinks, corn, beans, and sweets. She will also buy gladiolas, baby's breath, chrysanthemums and carnations.

She started her business 30 years ago. A neighbor invited her to establish the store, and they set it up together. The woman was single, and she did not want to continue with the business. That is how Camila continued on with the store by herself. Her business is important because it helps with the food, and it helps pay for the telephone and electricity. She is proud to have her grocery store and of working in the fields.

She grows seasonal corn, which she plants each year. Her business is well-known because she tends to her customers in a good-natured way. Her sister and her niece also help her tend to the customers. Her business faces competition from some stores, but each one already has their customers. She uses the income from her business to pay the field workers and to pay for electricity and the telephone.

She is planning to buy some pigs and calves to raise and later sell. Her dreams and hopes are that God continues helping her to continue in her work. She is thrilled with this loan that she is going to receive. She will buy what is lacking in the store in order to be well stocked and to give her customers better service.

The members of the group thank Kiva and the Fundación Realidad for the help and the trust placed in them. May they continue helping with the loans.
