  • I really dont get the thinking behind this (grant you that may be a good thing). I know teachers who have told me that they are told to "tie" ALL lessons together. So if they are studing the Civil War they are suppose to include a reading assignment about the Civil War, Geography about the areas where the battles took place, spelling about words that relate to the Civil War, and the arithmetic is suppose to have some sort of problems from the war. But this crosses the line...big time!

  • I think "flippant" is the word I would use to describe this whole thing. It just is a very flippant treatment of something that is still very painful in our country. You're right; they could have talked of increased production with the cotton gin or any number of other things.

  • See this is why we can't fall for the Gwinett county has the best schools lie. If these are the best schools GA Atlanta has to offer than I am a totally glad we opt out. It is things like this that make me happy I am homeschool parent. I just think it is irresonsible as an educator to present material in this manner. They would have never tried to tie in the Holocaust in something like this. Where is the sentitivity for us?
