  • I have an idea why don't they make a converter box only 20 dollars and the government can give you a ten dollar coupon so we can get DTV alot sooner. Because lets face it converter boxes isn't going to give you the same experience as a nice ass HDTV.

  • For true HD you need to have an HDTV.

The conveter box just take the new digital signal and converts it back to the old original anolog signal that your older tv. was recieving before the introduction of digital DTV.

  • I have a 1080i capable plasma HDTV and for right now I'm happy just watching BluRay DVD's with it. However, I'd like to try the converter. Will I be seeing true HDTV using one of these over-the-air converter boxes on a network channel like NBC which has the little HDTV logo in the corner? I not sure because the all the converter boxes lack the HDMI connection. Thanks

  • These converter boxes do not give true HD They simply take the digital signal and convert it back to the old anolog signal but you will gate a very clear picture with no distortion or noise. Check to see if your plasma Tv. already has a digital tunner you might not even need one of these converters.

  • are there any convter box with component video cable connection. I assume you would get a better picture vs s video or composite.

  • These converters that I reviewed do not have component video. They have single composit video and stereo out. Red = Right audio wHITE = Left or nono audio Yellow = Video out

RF CABLE ant in RF Cble OUT TO TV.

I an sure there are other models that have component video and S Video.

  • @twinsman0104 FCC deals in a lot more than that, what you're talking about was their original purpose, which IMHO could have been easily handled by the electric utility.

  • can u use an universal control from the 99cent store

  • because its over public airwaves that the FCC controls who has what frequencies. Without some sort control there would be chaos and nothing would come in

  • It is funny people just think when they get an HDTV there getting HD. There not you have to upgrade to HD programming and that cost some money to do that. How i know i have an HDTV.

  • !! why is the government involved in this !!
