Join NCM Fathom, TV Planet and The Movie Machine for DUDAMEL: Let the Children Play Premiere Event, an inspirational evening showcasing music as a universal right and the role it can play in shaping a person's future. This exclusive one-night event will take place in U.S. movie theaters nationwide on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. (local time).

Captured in seven different countries, "DUDAMEL: Let the Children Play" is a glimpse into the world of orchestras, conducting, and the importance of music as a hopeful path to face the educational crisis worldwide. Gustavo Dudamel, the amazingly gifted conductor inspired by the Venezuelan musical and educational program "El Sistema," which immerses children in the world of music, art, teamwork, discipline, creativity, and high values, leads this journey through the stories of some of the young people who are experiencing the joy of music in the most diverse and contrasting corners of the world. "DUDAMEL: Let the Children Play" is a story of hope for the future unfolding right now. As educational institutions underestimate the arts, a movement emerges with the hopes of thousands of children who tell us that music is a universal right.

The two hour event will also include "crescendo - why music is life" - a special 20 minute story produced by CNN en Español that takes an in-depth look at the importance of music in children and explores -in a very creative way- the role of music in people's lives. In their own words, well known singers, musicians and CNN anchors share their relationship with music and the very own sound of life. Discover with them the reasons why life cannot be conceived without harmony, melody and rhythm... and why music belongs to the inner core of human beings.

  • grande DUDAMEL;;;;;;que Dios te guarde hoy y siempre.....yo te vi en los Angeles.....solo fui a verte desde miami....grande....

  • I saw this movie in a sold-out theater in west Ft. Lauderdale, FL and was moved to tears several times. The message is pure and simple: Let the children play. Here's hoping enough people with the means to donate will do so in order to save the music programs that are being cut or revive those that already have. There is no denying it: music is a part of us all. This is a must-see film. Dudamel, may your dream come true.

  • Beautiful, uplifting movie! Hard for my daughter to sit through, but would have been a great field trip for older music students. Only 9 people in the entire theater and I am a little embarrassed for PGH which is known for its arts. Young and old could benefit from learning to look outside their box-to see how little others have; yet they never give up at trying to make a difference. Loved seeing where Dudamel grew up and his story of the "pretend orchestra" in front of the lightbox.

  • Hope this creates the music revolution talked about in the movie needed for young people in U.S. and abroad. It will take one person telling another and slowly we bring this change for all children.

  • mil felicidades!!!!
