Aids in South Africa - 34-min documentary

In South Africa, cultural dismissal of Aids is making any advances against the disease almost impossible.

A group of young Zulu women form an orderly queue. They are waiting to have their virginity tested and to check that they are free from Aids. To have Aids is a disgrace, and most blacks, especially men, don't believe the disease really exists. 'Cures' for Aids include having sex with a virgin, leading to 1 in 3 children in South Africa being abused. Until attitudes change, the pandemic will continue to grow.

Read my message again b4 sermonising and stating the bloody obvious: the TV company should have made the film from the Womens perspective, let the Women narrate the film, lets hear their! voives, empower them. I did not mean for the women to be filming the documentary, that is plain stupid on your part. And showing close-ups of the Womens breasts is unnecessary, intrusive, and not to every Westerners taste.

When you're hungry and can't afford food, making a documentary is not on your list of priorities. The camera angle gives the documentary more appeal to westerners because it's a shock.
