The Spiro Mounds Archeological site in Eastern Oklahoma is a quiet and peaceful place now. So it's hard to imagine that this spot was once a bustling center of commerce and religion that was literally the capitol of the known world. But it's true.

    The clay figure at @1:02 is called the "Lucifer pipe." So named because it bares a resemblance to the malevolent spirit (red-skinned, horned and fanged, as commonly depicted by Western culture).

    Dennis claims that the figures on the shell at 2:01 are stylized Raccoons, but Gayle says they are really Armadillos!

    You know I've lived in this area for over 20 years and just recently visited Spiro Mounds. Great place to visit with your family.
